Video poker money management

Understand that you will lose money sometimes
Video poker is gambling just like actual poker which means that you will lose sometimes. You should view playing as a form of relaxation and enjoyment that will cost you a certain amount of money. You need to decide before starting whether you want to play a short or long game as this is directly linked to the amount of money you will need. Next, set yourself clear limits on time and money that you are not able to exceed – ideally by only having your preset money limit with you when you start playing.
Keep notes
If you are playing video poker it is sensible to have a notepad so that you can keep a record of your winnings and losses. Before you begin, note down your starting amount and then write down how much you either gain or lose in each hand. This way it is impossible for you to ignore or forget about these matters as you become involved in the game.
Take breaks
You do not have to play video poker sessions continuously and it is advisable to take break periods to unwind and clear your head. It is very possible to get so caught up in the game that continuing becomes a compulsive thing – and you are much more likely to forget about your budget if this happens.
Make sure you stop when you hit your limit
This might seem like the most obvious point, but it can be the hardest one for an online video poker player to actually follow. Gambling is naturally compulsive and many players believe that, if they just keep playing a little longer, they will make back any losses they may have incurred. In fact, the opposite is generally true – if you are losing anyway, the longer you play, the more you will lose.
